CVS Health Bolsters Board with Four Key New Directors
On November 18, 2024, CVS Health declared the addition of four new members to its board. This announcement followed fruitful discussions with activist investor, Glenview Capital Management. The new directors include:
- Larry Robbins, CEO of Glenview Capital Management
- Leslie Norwalk, a healthcare strategic counsel with extensive CMS experience
- Guy Sansone, CEO of H2 Health
- Doug Shulman, Chairman of OneMain Holdings and former IRS commissioner
These appointments have increased the size of CVS Health’s board from 12 to 16 members. Each new director brings a unique set of skills in healthcare, financial services, and operations. This strategic move comes at a time when CVS has been grappling with challenges in its Medicare Advantage business. Recently, David Joyner was appointed as the CEO following the resignation of Karen Lynch in October. As part of the board expansion deal, the company entered into a confidentiality agreement with Glenview Capital.
