Aseer Region of Saudi Arabia: A Tourism Powerhouse with 2.9M Visitors in H1 2025

The Aseer region of Saudi Arabia has firmly established itself as a major player in the tourism industry. In the first half of 2025 alone, it attracted a staggering 2.9 million visitors. Nestled in the southwestern part of the country, this mountainous region is now among the top five tourist hotspots in Saudi Arabia. The region’s appeal lies in its breathtaking landscapes, pleasant climate, and burgeoning hospitality sector.

As per the Ministry of Tourism, this influx of tourists is a part of a larger tourism boom in the country. In the first half of 2025, Saudi Arabia played host to 46.6 million domestic tourists. These tourists contributed a whopping SAR 70.9 billion ($18.9 billion) to the economy. The success of the Aseer region is a testament to the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 initiative, which aims to diversify the economy through the development of the tourism sector.

Interestingly, international visitors tend to spend more time in the region than domestic tourists. On average, they stay for 7.2 nights, compared to 6.6 nights for Saudi nationals. This trend highlights the region’s growing popularity as a global destination. With its unique mix of natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and modern amenities, the Aseer region is poised to drive Saudi Arabia’s transformation into a world-class tourist destination.
