Apple’s M5 Chip: A Quantum Leap in AI Performance

Apple has officially announced its groundbreaking M5 chip, delivering what the company calls “the next big leap in AI performance” for Apple Silicon. Built using third-generation 3-nanometer technology, the M5 chip features a revolutionary 10-core GPU with Neural Accelerators in each core, providing up to 4x the peak GPU compute performance compared to the M4 chip.

The M5 chip powers the new 14-inch MacBook Pro, which is available for pre-order starting today and launches on October 22. The chip delivers up to 15% faster CPU performance and up to 45% faster graphics compared to the M4, while maintaining Apple’s industry-leading power efficiency. The enhanced 16-core Neural Engine accelerates on-device AI tasks and improves Apple Intelligence performance dramatically.

M5 brings a massive leap in AI performance to the Mac,” said Apple in its announcement. The new MacBook Pro with M5 starts at $1,599 and includes 512GB storage and 16GB RAM as standard. Higher-end models with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips are expected to arrive in early 2026.
