South Korean Airlines Boost Zhangjiajie Routes in Response to Tourism Surge

Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, and Jeju Air are significantly expanding flight operations to Zhangjiajie, China, responding to the surging demand from South Korean tourists for this UNESCO World Heritage site. The destination, renowned for inspiring the floating mountains in Avatar, has become increasingly accessible with direct four-hour flights from Seoul’s Incheon International Airport to Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport.

This expansion is catalyzing substantial growth in both the air travel and hospitality sectors. Hotels are adapting to western standards to accommodate the influx of international visitors. South Korean tourists are particularly captivated by Zhangjiajie’s dramatic natural landscapes, including the towering sandstone pillars of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park.

The enhanced connectivity is proving mutually beneficial, invigorating Zhangjiajie’s local economy while providing South Korean travelers with convenient access to one of China’s most spectacular natural destinations. Peak visiting seasons are spring through autumn when weather conditions are optimal for outdoor activities.
