As of August 2025, Australia is witnessing a remarkable resurgence in its tourism sector. The country welcomed a staggering 753,320 international visitors in August alone. This marks a 14.3% increase from the previous year, aligning with the growing global demand for leisure and business travel.

Visitor spending during the year ending June 2025 reached a record-breaking $32.1 billion. The tourism boom is primarily fueled by international tourists, with domestic travelers also contributing a substantial $123.7 billion.

The growth has translated into greater demand for various sectors. These include:

  • Accommodation
  • Dining
  • Entertainment

This has led to a boost in local economies across major cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.

Australia’s cruise industry is also experiencing substantial growth. Expectations are high for a record-breaking 2025-26 season, featuring 63 international cruise ships. (source)
