Apple Launches M5 Chip: A Quantum Leap in AI Performance for Mac
Apple has taken a significant step forward in Silicon technology with the announcement of its revolutionary M5 chip. This new chip delivers an astounding 4x peak GPU compute performance for AI, compared to its predecessor, the M4.
The M5 chip is a powerhouse, featuring a next-generation GPU with Neural Accelerators in each core, a more robust CPU, and a faster Neural Engine. This chip marks a substantial leap in Apple’s Silicon technology.
Apple introduced the M5 chip in the new MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, and Apple Vision Pro models. The 14-inch MacBook Pro, equipped with the M5 chip, is priced starting at $1,599.
According to Apple’s testing, the M5 delivers up to 3.5x the AI performance compared to devices powered by the M4. This performance boost is achieved while maintaining Apple’s signature energy efficiency standards.
The new devices, powered by the M5 chip, are available for pre-order now. They will be available in stores from October 22, 2025.
