Apple’s Groundbreaking M5 Chip: A Quantum Leap in AI Performance
Apple has unveiled its revolutionary M5 chip on October 15, 2025, signifying a monumental advancement in AI performance for Apple silicon. The M5 chip boasts over 4x the peak GPU compute performance for AI compared to its predecessor, the M4. This is made possible by its next-generation 10-core GPU architecture equipped with a Neural Accelerator in each core.
Constructed using the cutting-edge third-generation 3-nanometer technology, the M5 introduces a swifter CPU performance with up to a 15 percent improvement in multithreaded performance over the M4. It also features an enhanced 16-core Neural Engine and a nearly 30 percent increase in unified memory bandwidth, soaring to 153GB/s.
The M5 chip is the powerhouse behind Apple’s new 14-inch MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, and Apple Vision Pro models. These new devices became available for pre-order starting October 15, with availability commencing from October 22.
- The 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 starts at $1,599, maintaining the same price as previous models.
