Textron Aviation Reveals Future of Cessna Citation with Next-Gen Business Jets Equipped with Autoland

Textron Aviation has ushered in the future of its iconic Cessna Citation lineup. The company unveiled three next-generation light business jets at the National Business Aviation Association Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) in Las Vegas on October 21, 2024. The new additions to the fleet include the Citation M2 Gen3, CJ3 Gen3, and CJ4 Gen3.

These aircraft are the first in Textron’s Citation light jet family to feature the groundbreaking Garmin Emergency Autoland technology. This advanced safety system is a revolutionary step forward in aviation safety. In addition to the Autoland technology, the Citation CJ4 Gen3 also boasts the new Garmin G3000 PRIME avionics system. This system offers intuitive touchscreen controls and enhanced pilot interfaces for an improved flying experience.

“Today we unveiled the future of flight and the next generation of Cessna Citation light jets,” said Ron Draper, President and CEO of Textron Aviation. “With the inclusion of revolutionary Garmin Emergency Autoland technology, these aircraft promise to elevate the flying experience.”

The CJ4 Gen3 is slated to enter service in 2026. The M2 Gen3 and CJ3 Gen3 are expected to follow suit in 2027. The CJ4 Gen3 prototype aircraft has already made its mark by successfully completing its first flight in early October 2024. This milestone has propelled the program into advanced testing phases.
