Tesla Unveils Model Y Performance in the US, Priced at $57,490
Tesla has officially launched its much-anticipated Model Y Performance variant in the United States on October 1st. The electric SUV, priced at $57,490, boasts significant performance enhancements, including a 0-60 mph acceleration time of a mere 3.3 seconds, an improvement from the previous 3.5 seconds. Additionally, it offers an EPA-rated range of 306 miles.
The launch strategically coincided with the expiration of the federal EV tax credit, creating a sense of urgency among potential buyers. To sweeten the deal, Tesla offered free paint options, a white interior, and a tow package as launch incentives. The Performance variant stands out with its 21-inch Arachnid wheels, adaptive damping suspension, and enhanced sporty styling elements, both inside and out.
Thanks to Tesla’s well-timed strategy, last-minute buyers were able to secure the $7,500 federal tax credit before the September 30 deadline. This effectively brought the purchase price below $50,000 for qualifying customers. The Model Y Performance is Tesla’s premium offering in the electric SUV segment, directly competing with high-performance variants from other luxury automakers.
