Verizon Appoints Ex-PayPal CEO Dan Schulman as New CEO
Verizon Communications has announced the appointment of Dan Schulman, the former CEO of PayPal, as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. This leadership change comes as the telecommunications giant seeks to boost growth and strengthen its market position against competitors such as AT&T and T-Mobile.
Schulman, 67, brings a wealth of experience in both telecommunications and financial technology to his new role. His impressive tenure as PayPal’s CEO from 2014 to 2023 saw him triple the company’s revenue from $8 billion to $30 billion. In addition, he managed to increase earnings per share five-fold and added hundreds of millions of customers worldwide. Prior to PayPal, Schulman held key leadership positions at AT&T, Virgin Mobile, and American Express.
“Verizon is at a critical juncture. We have a clear opportunity to redefine our trajectory by growing our market share across all segments while delivering meaningful growth in our key financial metrics,” said Schulman.
The announcement of Schulman’s appointment comes as Verizon gears up to finalize its $20 billion acquisition of Frontier Communications in the first quarter of 2026. This strategic move will significantly expand Verizon’s fiber broadband capabilities, reaching approximately one million American households.
