US Airports Grapple with Major Flight Disruptions: 70 Cancellations and Thousands Delayed
The United States is currently grappling with significant air travel disruptions, grounding thousands of passengers across major airports due to operational challenges. Over 70 flights were canceled and more than 5,000 delayed on October 8, 2025, causing inconvenience to passengers of major carriers such as Delta, United Airlines, American Airlines, Cape Air, and Breeze Airways.
The widespread disruptions primarily impacted key travel hubs, including:
- Seattle-Tacoma International (SEA)
- Boston Logan International (BOS)
- Chicago O’Hare International (ORD)
Chicago O’Hare alone reported 270 delays, while Boston Logan recorded 133 delays and 8 cancellations. Seattle-Tacoma faced 100 delays with 4 cancellations. Major domestic and international routes experienced substantial delays, causing significant inconvenience for passengers traveling to Europe, Asia, the Caribbean, and South America.
Airlines are advising passengers to check their flight status and consider alternate travel plans due to the ongoing operational challenges and weather-related factors.
