Ground Collision at LaGuardia Airport Involving Two Regional Jets
On the evening of Wednesday, October 1, two Endeavor Air CRJ-900 regional jets were involved in a collision while taxiing at LaGuardia Airport. This incident, which occurred at approximately 10:00 PM local time at the intersection of Taxiways M and A, is the latest in a series of ground incidents at major U.S. airports.
The FAA’s preliminary reports reveal that Endeavor Air Flight 5047 was taxiing to its gate when it collided with Endeavor Air Flight 5155. Prior to the incident, air traffic control had instructed Flight 5155 to hold short and yield to the other aircraft. The FAA has since launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this ground collision.
Images circulating on social media show significant damage to the nose and cockpit of one CRJ900, while the other aircraft’s right wing appears to be partially damaged.
