Joby Aviation Partners with White House eVTOL Program to Accelerate Operations

Joby Aviation, a California-based company, has recently announced its plans to join the White House eVTOL Integration Pilot Program (eIPP). This marks a significant milestone towards the early commencement of commercial air taxi operations. The eIPP, established through a recent Executive Order by President Trump, enables mature electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft to initiate operations in specific markets, even before obtaining full FAA certification.

The aircraft of Joby, powered by six electric motors, boasts a top speed of 200 mph and can accommodate up to four passengers. In 2025 alone, it has recorded over 40,000 miles of flight testing through nearly 600 flights. The company has also recently completed its first flight between two public airports, fully integrating with commercial air traffic.

“We’ve spent more than 15 years building the aircraft technology and operational capabilities that are defining advanced aerial mobility,” stated Greg Bowles, Chief Policy Officer at Joby. He further added that applications for the pilot program are due by December 11, 2025, and operations could potentially commence as early as 2026.
