EAA Embarks on “Mission 2.5” to Achieve Historic Young Eagles Flights Milestone
The Experimental Aircraft Association has embarked on an ambitious campaign dubbed “Mission 2.5”. The goal? To reach a staggering 2.5 million Young Eagles flights by EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2026. As of September 24, 2025, the program has already recorded 2,453,776 flights, leaving just a little over 46,000 flights to reach this historic milestone.
“From those first Young Eagle flights at Oshkosh in July 1992 to today, more than 50,000 EAA member pilots have generously shared their time, aircraft, and knowledge to open the world of flight to young people,” said Jack J. Pelton, EAA CEO. The program is now calling on pilots to fly 25 Young Eagles each between October 1, 2025, and July 31, 2026.
EAA Chairman Jimmy Graham, a retired NFL All-Pro tight end, emphasized the need for more volunteer pilots. The organization is offering recognition and incentives to chapters that recruit new volunteer pilots for the program.
