Maruti Suzuki Announces Significant Price Reductions Following GST Restructuring
Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest automaker, has announced substantial price reductions across its popular models. This move comes in the wake of the government’s GST restructuring. The company has slashed ex-showroom prices by up to ₹1.29 lakh, with the new pricing effective from September 22, 2025.
The price cuts apply to key models including the WagonR, Baleno, Celerio, Swift, and Dzire. The revised GST structure now levies an 18% tax on small cars, a significant decrease from the previous 28% plus cess structure. Larger vehicles, on the other hand, have benefited from the removal of the compensation cess.
Here are the expected price drops for two popular models:
- The Alto could see price drops of ₹40,000-50,000
- The Wagon R may witness reductions between ₹60,000-67,000
This strategic move by Maruti positions the automaker to boost sales momentum during the festive season while maintaining its market dominance.
