Apple Watch Series 11: Introducing Blood Pressure Monitoring and Sleep Scoring

Apple has made significant strides in health advancements with the introduction of the Apple Watch Series 11. This latest model features innovative blood pressure monitoring capabilities and comprehensive sleep scoring features, setting a new standard in personal health tracking.

The new health features of the watch employ machine learning algorithms to analyze blood vessel responses via optical heart sensors. This cutting-edge technology could potentially detect chronic high blood pressure. As explained by Apple’s health vice president, Sumbul Desai, during the launch event, “Using data from the optical heart sensor, the algorithm looks for chronic high blood pressure by analyzing how your blood vessels respond.”

In addition to blood pressure monitoring, the Series 11 also introduces a “sleep score” feature. This tool aids users in understanding their rest quality, aligning Apple with competitors such as Oura, Google, and Samsung who have already offered similar functionality.

Apple is currently seeking FDA clearance for the blood pressure monitoring feature and anticipates approval “soon“. The new watches will be available from September 19, with pricing consistent with previous models.
