Avflight and BETA Technologies: Pioneering Michigan’s Electric Aircraft Charging Network

Avflight, in a groundbreaking partnership with electric aerospace company BETA Technologies, is set to install electric aircraft charging infrastructure at four Michigan-based FBOs. This initiative is being hailed as a “foundational intrastate charging corridor for aviation’s future.”

Charging stations are already operational at Avflight Lansing (KLAN) and Avflight Holland (KBIV). Further installations are in the pipeline for Avflight Traverse City (KTVC) and Avflight Willow Run (KYIP).

This ambitious project forms part of a $2.6 million investment granted to BETA Technologies by the state of Michigan. The BETA chargers are multimodal and interoperable, built around the Combined Charging System (CCS) standard. This innovative design allows the chargers to serve not only electric aircraft but also electric ground vehicles, contributing significantly to the reduction of overall emissions across all modes of airport transportation.

With these new sites, Avflight’s network of electric aviation infrastructure in Michigan is set to triple in size.
