Frontier Airlines Expands with 22 New Routes Amidst Aviation Industry Turbulence

On September 4, 2025, Frontier Airlines announced its plan to launch 22 new routes in November and December. This significant expansion of its network will span across the United States, Caribbean, and Latin America. The budget carrier’s strategic move aims to position it as the leading low-fare airline in America’s top 20 metropolitan markets.

The new routes include Frontier’s debut service to Providenciales in Turks and Caicos, as well as a return to Nassau, Bahamas. The domestic expansion will introduce new services from major hubs such as Atlanta, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Chicago. Meanwhile, the international destinations will reach Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Mexico, Costa Rica, and the Dominican Republic.

“We are on a mission to increase domestic and international service and redefine air travel by demonstrating that it can be comfortable, convenient, and affordable,” said Josh Flyr, Frontier’s Vice President of Network and Operations Design. Promotional fares for select routes will start at just $19, with tickets available for purchase through September 10.

The announcement comes amidst rival Spirit Airlines facing its second bankruptcy in less than a year. This situation potentially opens opportunities for Frontier to capture a larger market share. The expansion is part of Frontier’s “New Frontier” initiative, which includes enhanced customer offerings such as:

  • UpFront Plus seating
  • The upcoming introduction of First Class service in late 2025
