Apple Set to Unveil iPhone 17 at the ‘Awe Dropping’ Event on September 9
Apple has officially announced its highly anticipated “Awe Dropping” event for Tuesday, September 9 at 1 p.m. Eastern. The event is expected to showcase the most significant iPhone redesign in years.
The star of the show is anticipated to be the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air. This device, measuring just 5.5mm thick and weighing approximately 145 grams, is set to be the thinnest iPhone ever produced. The iPhone 17 Air will feature a 6.6-inch display with 120Hz ProMotion refresh rates, a first for non-Pro iPhones.
Alongside the iPhone 17 Air, Apple is also expected to introduce the Apple Watch Ultra 3. This new watch will offer satellite connectivity for emergency messaging in remote areas. It is reported to feature the largest Apple Watch display to date and improved charging capabilities, reaching 80% in just 30 minutes.
In addition, the event may see the debut of the AirPods Pro 3. These new AirPods are rumored to have heart-rate monitoring capabilities using LED optical sensors, enhanced active noise cancellation, and a faster H3 audio chip. This would be the first major update to the AirPods Pro line in three years.
The event comes at a critical time for Apple. The company’s stock has declined 15-19% in 2025, making it one of the worst performers among major tech stocks. However, Apple recently reported strong Q3 earnings with iPhone revenue surging 13.5% to $44.6 billion.
