Joby Aviation Marks a Milestone with $76M Acquisition of Blade Air Mobility

Electric air taxi pioneer, Joby Aviation, has triumphantly finalized its strategic acquisition of Blade Air Mobility’s passenger business. This $76 million stock deal signifies a noteworthy milestone in the urban air mobility sector. The deal, sealed on August 29, 2025, equips Joby with immediate access to Blade’s well-established network of 12 terminals in prime markets such as New York City and Southern Europe.

The acquisition endows Joby with instant market infrastructure, featuring dedicated lounges and terminal bases at key locations like John F. Kennedy International Airport, Newark Liberty Airport, and various Manhattan spots. Blade transported over 50,000 passengers in 2024, and these operations will persist under CEO Rob Wiesenthal’s guidance as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Joby. This strategic move propels Joby towards a swifter commercial entry with its electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, pending FAA certification.
