Survey Reveals Tesla’s FSD Technology Deters More US Buyers Than It Attracts

A recent survey has shed light on the impact of Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology on potential buyers. The survey, conducted among 8,000 Americans, indicates that FSD technology is dissuading more potential buyers than it is attracting.

According to the research from political consulting firm Slingshot Strategies, only 14% of the respondents said FSD would make them more likely to purchase a Tesla. In contrast, 35% stated it would make them less likely to buy one.

The survey also highlighted some concerning statistics about the public’s perception of FSD technology. The findings include:

  • 48% of consumers believe FSD technology should be illegal
  • 66% say Tesla should be held responsible for accidents involving its driver assistance technologies

When focusing on consumers actively shopping for electric vehicles, the ratio becomes even more alarming. 33% are deterred by FSD, versus just 20% who are attracted to it.

These findings come at a time when Tesla is facing regulatory scrutiny and a $329 million jury verdict in Miami related to a fatal accident involving Autopilot.
