Joby Aviation Seals $76M Acquisition of Blade Air Mobility’s Passenger Division
Electric air taxi pioneer, Joby Aviation, has successfully finalized its acquisition of Blade Air Mobility’s passenger division. The deal, completed on August 29, 2025, was valued at $76 million in stock. This strategic move paves the way for Joby’s accelerated entry into commercial service, leveraging Blade’s well-established network of terminals and a loyal customer base in prime markets such as New York City and Southern Europe.
The acquisition encompasses dedicated terminal infrastructure at major airports. These include John F. Kennedy International Airport, Newark Liberty Airport, and multiple locations across Manhattan. Rob Wiesenthal, Blade’s founder and CEO, will continue to steer the business, now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Joby. In 2024 alone, the company transported over 50,000 passengers from its network of 12 urban terminals.
“By integrating Joby’s aircraft with Blade’s established network, we’re laying an unrivaled groundwork for introducing quiet air travel to the market,” stated JoeBen Bevirt, founder and CEO of Joby Aviation. This acquisition bolsters Joby’s plans to commence commercial operations in Dubai the following year.
