Chelan-Douglas Regional Port Authority Celebrates Renovation of General Aviation Terminal
The Chelan-Douglas Regional Port Authority commemorated the completion of the newly-refurbished General Aviation Terminal at Pangborn Memorial Airport in East Wenatchee, Washington, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 27, 2025.
Originally built in the 1960s, the terminal had seen its share of wear and tear over the years. However, it has now received a comprehensive overhaul, thanks to the support of FAA grants. At the groundbreaking ceremony last August, the Port paid tribute to U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell for her instrumental role in reducing the capital contribution required for FAA grants.
Senator Cantwell underscored the economic significance of airports during the original groundbreaking, stating, “It’s proven that most economic development happens within 10 miles of an airport. Here, we’re trying to build capacity not just for general aviation, but commercial aviation.” The updated facility for non-commercial flights is set to better serve the regional aviation community and bolster local economic development initiatives.
