NVIDIA Unveils Jetson Thor ‘Robot Brain’ for AI Robotics at $3,499

NVIDIA has recently announced the general availability of its Jetson AGX Thor developer kit and production modules. These powerful new robotics computers are designed to serve as the “brain” for the next generation of AI-powered machines.

The Jetson AGX Thor developer kit is now available for a price of $3,499. The first units are expected to start shipping next month. This kit is built on NVIDIA’s Blackwell GPU architecture and is equipped with 128GB of memory. The chip delivers 7.5 times more AI compute and 3.5 times greater energy efficiency than its predecessor, the Jetson Orin.

One of the key features of the system is its ability to run multiple generative AI models simultaneously. This includes large language and visual models that are essential for humanoid robots. Early adopters of this technology include industry leaders such as Agility Robotics, Amazon Robotics, Boston Dynamics, and Meta. For production-ready robots, NVIDIA offers the Thor T5000 modules at $2,999 each for orders of 1,000 or more units.

CEO Jensen Huang sees robotics as the company’s largest growth opportunity outside of AI. The combined automotive and robotics segment has generated $567 million in quarterly sales, representing a 72% year-over-year increase.
