Alaska Airlines to Launch SpaceX’s Starlink Wi-Fi Service in 2026
Alaska Airlines announced on Wednesday its plan to equip its entire fleet with SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet, offering passengers free high-speed Wi-Fi starting in 2026. The rollout, which is expected to be completed by 2027, will cover all regional, narrowbody, and widebody aircraft across both Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines.
The Starlink service boasts impressive speeds of up to 500 Mbps with latency under 99 milliseconds – a performance that is approximately seven times faster than current satellite-based Wi-Fi systems used by most airlines today. Ben Minicucci, CEO of Alaska Air Group, emphasized that the service will provide “gate-to-gate connectivity on nearly every aircraft across both airlines.”
Members of Alaska’s new Atmos Rewards loyalty program, launched in partnership with Hawaiian Airlines, will have free access to Starlink. In addition, T-Mobile will offer seamless, ad-free Wi-Fi login integration for passengers. With this move, Alaska will become the first U.S. airline to operate Starlink-equipped long-haul flights from Seattle.
