Star of the Seas: Royal Caribbean’s New Icon Set to Launch in August 2025

The cruise industry is on an impressive growth trajectory, with Royal Caribbean gearing up to launch the much-anticipated Star of the Seas in late August 2025. This new vessel is a part of the company’s ambitious expansion plan, featuring Icon and Utopia class ships, aimed at both loyal cruisers and first-time travelers.

In 2025, the cruise sector is witnessing unprecedented success. According to the Cruise Lines International Association, the industry is expected to welcome 37.7 million passengers this year, a significant increase from 34.6 million in 2024. Port Miami alone hosted 8.23 million passengers in the fiscal year 2024 and is on track to break that record this year.

Similarly, Port Canaveral is also reporting impressive numbers, with nearly one million passenger movements recorded in March alone. Florida ports are spearheading this cruise boom, with new ships like the Star of the Seas helping to maintain robust pricing, despite the growing competition in the market.

The launch of the Star of the Seas coincides with the broader revival of the US tourism industry. However, the cruise sector stands out as one of the most reliable growth stories in the travel world today.
