Piper Aircraft Introduces Seminole DX with Groundbreaking Diesel Engine
Piper Aircraft has proudly announced the launch of the innovative Piper Seminole DX. This new model features DeltaHawk’s FAA-certified DHK4A180 180-horsepower diesel engine, marking the first time a diesel-powered PA-44 Seminole has been introduced in the company’s history.
The game-changing aircraft was unveiled at the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2025, a product of a successful collaboration between Piper and DeltaHawk that was announced in early 2024. The Seminole DX is a significant leap forward in general aviation training aircraft technology.
It utilizes heavy fuel compression ignition engine technology that promises to deliver improved fuel efficiency and reduced operating costs for flight schools. Piper has already started taking position reservations for this new diesel-powered twin-engine trainer, which is set to revolutionize multi-engine flight training programs worldwide.
