Climate Action Initiative: Uniting Airlines & Tourism Industry for a Sustainable Future
A groundbreaking global initiative was launched recently with the aim to unite the aviation and tourism sectors in the fight against climate change. The program, titled “Shared Horizons: Connecting Aviation and Tourism for Climate Action”, is a collaborative effort with Skyscanner, designed to bridge the gap in the industry’s environmental response.
The initiative introduces a newly formed Advisory Group and has opened a sector-wide survey. This survey is now accepting responses from various stakeholders, including tour operators, destination managers, aviation professionals, and others. The purpose of the survey is to explore the current approaches to emissions, barriers to action, innovation, finance, and climate responsibility across the travel ecosystem.
Invitations to participate have been extended to airlines, airports, tour operators, DMOs, hotel groups, industry suppliers, and NGOs. The aim is to encourage collaboration and mutual support among sectors that have traditionally worked independently on sustainability challenges.
All survey responses will be treated with confidentiality as the industry moves towards developing more coordinated climate action strategies for the future of sustainable travel.
