Tunisia’s Tourism Triumph: Record-Breaking Growth with 5.2M Visitors in 2025

Tunisia has emerged as one of 2025’s biggest tourism success stories, welcoming over 5.2 million visitors by mid-July. This marks a 9.8% increase compared to the same period in 2024. The North African nation now stands alongside global tourism leaders such as Spain, Mexico, Brazil, and Greece, all experiencing record-breaking growth.

Tourism revenues have soared to TND 3.998 billion (approximately $1.28 billion) by mid-July, reflecting an 8.2% rise year-over-year. Hotel occupancy rates have also seen a boost, climbing to 35.3%, representing a 2.1 percentage point increase from 2024. European travelers continue to dominate the market, with France posting a 9.6% rise and the United Kingdom witnessing a remarkable 46.9% increase in tourist arrivals.

The surge in tourism is largely attributed to Tunisia’s new beach resorts, restored cultural landmarks, and upgraded transportation infrastructure. With domestic tourism accounting for 30% of total activity, the country is positioning itself as a premier Mediterranean destination. Investment intentions in the tourism sector have reached TND 943 million by July 2025, already surpassing the full-year total for 2024.
