Nintendo Switch 2 Shatters Records with 5.8 Million Units Sold in Just Seven Weeks

Nintendo’s Switch 2 console continues its record-breaking performance, reaching 5.82 million units sold worldwide since its June 5 launch. The company announced these impressive figures as part of its Q1 2025 financial results, revealing that the console has maintained strong momentum with demand still outpacing supply in several countries.

The success of the Switch 2 helped Nintendo more than double its quarterly revenue to 572.3 billion yen ($3.8 billion), surpassing analyst expectations. The console sold over 3.5 million units in its first four days alone, making it the fastest-selling Nintendo game system in history. Mario Kart World, the flagship launch title, has moved 5.63 million copies alongside the hardware.

Nintendo maintains its conservative forecast of selling 15 million Switch 2 units by March 2026, though analysts believe this target will be easily exceeded given the current sales trajectory. The company is working to strengthen production systems to meet the continuing high demand.
