Anthropic Approaches Monumental $170B Valuation Following Significant Funding Round
Anthropic, a leading AI startup, is on the verge of securing a staggering $3 billion to $5 billion in fresh funding. This influx of capital is set to value the company at an impressive $170 billion, nearly tripling its valuation from a mere three months prior. Investment powerhouse Iconiq Capital is spearheading the round, with ongoing discussions also involving Qatar Investment Authority and Singapore’s sovereign fund GIC.
The company’s valuation has skyrocketed in response to the success of Claude AI assistant, a product of Anthropic. The company’s annual recurring revenue has seen a fourfold increase to $4 billion since the onset of 2025. Previously, the company was valued at $61.5 billion in a funding round in March, led by Lightspeed Venture Partners.
This surge in funding is indicative of the growing investor interest in AI companies. It places Anthropic among the most valuable private tech companies globally, although it still trails behind OpenAI’s $300 billion valuation and SpaceX’s $400 billion valuation. Major backers of the company include Amazon, which has invested a total of $8 billion, and Google, which has committed $2 billion.
