Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS Stirs Debate with Controversial Face Shapewear Launch
Kim Kardashian’s shapewear empire, SKIMS, has ventured into new territory with the introduction of the Seamless Sculpt Face Wrap, retailing at $48. The debut beauty product from SKIMS quickly sold out within hours of its launch on July 29, igniting a heated discussion across various social media platforms.
The face wrap, featuring a “signature sculpting fabric” infused with collagen yarns, promises to provide jaw support and facial contouring during overnight wear. Available in Clay and Cocoa shades, the product capitalizes on the viral “morning shed” TikTok trend, where users display their nighttime beauty routines.
Despite the hype, experts question its effectiveness. Dr. Ahmed, also known as The Aesthetics Doctor, pointed out that while the wrap might offer temporary relief from puffiness, “experts have not been able to formulate a product where the collagen can penetrate the skin deep enough to make a significant difference.” Critics also express concerns about the product perpetuating unrealistic beauty standards. Body confidence activist Alex Light provocatively asked, “Can you imagine men wearing these?”
