Elixir Aircraft’s Innovative French Trainer Receives FAA Certification

Elixir Aircraft announced on July 22 that its groundbreaking two-seat composite trainer has been awarded the FAA Part 23 certification. This marks a significant achievement for the French manufacturer at the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh.

The aircraft boasts a revolutionary Carbon OneShot technology, a concept derived from competitive sailing. This technology results in an airframe comprising merely nine parts, enhancing safety and simplifying maintenance.

Powered by a Rotax engine, this 100-horsepower aircraft has already made its mark in Europe. Since receiving EASA certification in 2020, it has delivered over 40 units. Prestigious flight schools such as the Airbus Flight Academy Europe and Greek operator Egnatia Aviation are among its customers.

The company has reported over 300 preorders and letters of intent from the U.S. market. Deliveries are expected to commence in 2026.

“The simplified structure reduces potential failure points and significantly lowers operating costs,” explained Mike Tonkin, Elixir’s Head of Worldwide Sales.

While the U.S. pricing is yet to be finalized, the aircraft currently sells for approximately 400,000 euros in Europe. Elixir Aircraft is also in the process of obtaining EASA certification for a more powerful 140-horsepower version equipped with the Rotax 915 iS engine.
