Celebrating International Self-Care Day: A Spotlight on Beauty Wellness Trends
Today, we celebrate International Self-Care Day, an annual event held every July 24th. This day serves to highlight the crucial role of self-care as the cornerstone of health and wellness. The chosen date, 7/24, symbolizes the idea that self-care should be an ongoing practice, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
This year’s celebration aligns with the burgeoning trends in the beauty industry, which is increasingly leaning towards wellness-centric products and routines. The World Health Organization acknowledges self-care as a critical part of healthcare delivery. In line with this, new resources such as digital health monitoring tools and self-care competency frameworks are being introduced.
Beauty brands are now integrating self-care narratives into their marketing strategies. They are focusing on seven core pillars:
- Health literacy
- Mental wellbeing
- Physical activity
- Healthy eating
- Risk avoidance
- Good hygiene
- Responsible use of beauty products and services
The International Self-Care Foundation emphasizes that effective self-care does not necessitate expensive products. Instead, it involves consistent daily practices that bolster overall wellness.
