T-Mobile Breaks New Ground with Starlink-Powered T-Satellite Service

T-Mobile has officially launched its revolutionary T-Satellite service, powered by SpaceX’s Starlink constellation. The launch, which took place today, July 23, 2025, marks the first nationwide satellite-to-mobile service in the United States.

The T-Satellite service provides text messaging coverage across over 500,000 square miles of previously unreachable U.S. territory. This includes national parks, rural areas, and remote locations where traditional cell towers can’t reach. What sets this launch apart is its cross-carrier compatibility – even AT&T and Verizon customers can access the service.

T-Satellite seamlessly integrates with most smartphones released since 2020, requiring no special hardware or apps. When users move outside traditional cellular coverage, their phones automatically connect to Starlink’s network of 650+ satellites. The service supports both SMS and MMS messaging at launch, with Android users gaining multimedia capabilities immediately and iOS support following soon after.

Pricing for the T-Satellite service is included free for T-Mobile’s Experience Beyond plan subscribers. Other carrier customers can access the service for a nominal fee of $10 monthly. Data-based satellite services and expanded app compatibility are on the horizon for October 2025, with free 911 texting for all users, regardless of carrier, coming later this year.
