Tesla Makes Grand Entrance into India with First Showroom in Mumbai
Tesla is all set to make its long-awaited debut in India. The first showroom is scheduled to open on July 15, 2025, at the Maker Maxity Mall in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex. The Tesla Experience Centre, a sprawling 4,000-square-foot space, will showcase the company’s electric vehicles, including the much-anticipated Model Y, which has already been spotted testing on Indian roads.
The launch comes after years of anticipation and is a result of a February 2025 meeting between Elon Musk and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This crucial meeting helped resolve import duty and manufacturing requirements. Initially, Tesla will import vehicles from China, with plans to open a second showroom in New Delhi.
The company is actively recruiting local talent for various roles. The positions include:
- Showroom advisors
- Service technicians
- Managers
With these efforts, Tesla aims to tap into India’s growing luxury EV market. This marks Tesla’s first official foray into the world’s third-largest auto market, a strategic move amid slowing sales in China and Europe.
