Google Sets New Record with $32 Billion Acquisition of Wiz

In a historic move, Google has announced its largest acquisition to date. The tech giant is set to purchase the cybersecurity startup, Wiz, for a staggering $32 billion. This all-cash transaction will see the New York-based cloud security platform join forces with Google Cloud. The aim is to accelerate two significant trends in the AI era: enhanced cloud security and multicloud capabilities.

This acquisition far surpasses Google’s previous record of $12.5 billion, paid for Motorola in 2012. The deal comes after previous negotiations with Wiz fell through last year. The cybersecurity startup declined a $23 billion offer, choosing instead to pursue an IPO. The deal is now expected to close in 2026, pending regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.

Founded in 2020, Wiz has seen remarkable growth, boasting $700 million in annual recurring revenue. The company serves major clients, including BMW, DocuSign, Mars, and Salesforce. Post-acquisition, Wiz will continue to operate across all major cloud platforms, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud.
