L’Oréal Secures Color Wow in a Groundbreaking $1 Billion Acquisition

L’Oréal has recently inked a deal to acquire Color Wow, a rapidly expanding professional haircare brand, in an acquisition estimated to be valued at approximately $1 billion. Color Wow, established in 2013 by Gail Federici, has gained a reputation for its groundbreaking hair products, including the viral sensations, “Dream Coat Supernatural Spray” and “XL Bombshell Volumizer.”

The brand, boasting over $300 million in annual sales, has cultivated a dedicated fanbase among stylists and consumers alike, earning over 130 beauty awards. Color Wow’s impressive performance on social media platforms is particularly noteworthy, with a following of over 878,000 on TikTok and a remarkable 78% year-on-year growth in earned media value on the platform.

“As a premium haircare brand, with high levels of proven efficacy at an accessible price point, this acquisition will give us an increased foothold in haircare and in the styling category,” stated Omar Hajeri, President of L’Oréal’s Professional Products Division. The deal, set to close following customary regulatory approvals, positions L’Oréal to take advantage of the burgeoning premium haircare market.
