Elon Musk Establishes ‘America Party’ Post Trump Dispute Over Spending Bill

Billionaire Elon Musk made a public announcement on Saturday about the formation of a new political party, dubbed the ‘America Party’. This move follows his dramatic fallout with President Donald Trump over the administration’s colossal spending bill.

Musk, who held the position of being Trump’s largest individual donor in 2024 with a whopping $250 million in contributions, voiced his criticism towards the legislation for adding trillions to the federal deficit. The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX stated on X that ‘we live in a one-party system, not a democracy’ when it comes to government spending.

In response, Trump labeled Musk as ‘completely off the rails’ and portrayed the third-party effort as unsuccessful. Musk had previously led Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), but decided to step back in May after his term concluded.

The establishment of the America Party is set to face significant legal and financial challenges, including the need for ballot access in all 50 states and registration with the Federal Election Commission. Political pundits highlight that no third party has ever successfully challenged America’s two-party system. However, Musk’s immense wealth could potentially offer unprecedented resources for such an endeavor.
