Louis Vuitton Korea Hit by Cyberattack, Customer Data Compromised
Louis Vuitton Korea confirmed on Friday that a cyberattack on June 8th led to the unauthorized leak of customer data, including names and contact information. The luxury brand’s South Korean unit stated that an “unauthorized third party” temporarily accessed their systems, though no financial data such as credit card numbers or bank account details were compromised.
The company discovered the breach on Wednesday and immediately notified government authorities, taking measures to contain the incident and strengthen cybersecurity protocols. Louis Vuitton Korea has begun directly contacting affected customers about the data exposure.
Second Cybersecurity Breach within LVMH’s Portfolio
This marks the second cybersecurity breach within LVMH’s portfolio in South Korea in recent months, following similar incidents at Christian Dior Couture and Tiffany earlier this year.
Growing Cybersecurity Vulnerabilities in the Luxury Sector
The breach highlights growing cybersecurity vulnerabilities in the luxury sector, with other high-end brands like Cartier also reporting data leaks in South Korea this year. The Personal Information Protection Commission is currently investigating multiple luxury brands for customer data breaches.
