Apple Records 8% Surge in iPhone Sales in China, Marking First Growth in Two Years
Apple has marked a significant milestone in China, registering its first quarterly iPhone sales growth in two years with a remarkable 8% year-on-year increase in Q2 2025.
As per the data from Counterpoint Research, iPhone sales in China escalated during the three months ending June 22, 2025. This marks Apple’s first growth in this critical market since Q2 2023. The resurgence was primarily driven by strategic promotional pricing for the iPhone 16 lineup, especially the Pro and Pro Max models, in anticipation of China’s major 618 shopping festival.
Chinese e-commerce platforms offered hefty discounts of up to $351 (2,530 yuan) on iPhone 16 models in May. This, coupled with increased trade-in values and participation in China’s national smartphone subsidy program, led Apple to capture the top sales position during the promotional period. Notably, three iPhone variants secured spots on bestseller lists.
Despite the fierce competition from Huawei, which experienced a 12% growth and claimed the overall market leadership position, Apple’s recovery in China offers a sigh of relief for investors. The company’s stock has seen a 15% decline this year due to concerns about trade tensions and manufacturing challenges.
China accounts for approximately 20% of global iPhone sales, making this market recovery vital for Apple’s overall performance. The company is set to report Q3 earnings on July 31, which will provide more comprehensive details on this positive momentum.
